Video

I was also asked to create a video of the animation of the character. I was also asked to include the model from the first assignment.

I had a little difficulty with making the character walk. I could move every limb but I couldnt move the character himself. So making a static character look like he was moving just look stupid. So I decided to have him wave and nod his head. I also added the lighter, I made it float into his hand (because he's an alien and has special powers) and then have the lid on the lighter open. But for whatever reason, every time the lighter landed in position the lid fell off. I couldn't fix this issue so decided to include it in the animation. Now it looks like its a faulty lighter and the raise his hand in a shrug type motion, I figured if I could fix the problem I may as well try and take some humour from it.

I plan to try and improve this animation and also add more detail to the model over the summer.

Here's the video, I hope you enjoy!

Beauty Shots

I was asked to create some high resolution images to have printed out as photos, I created 4 but only 3 of these will be printed out.

Renders

Here are some the renders I created while modelling the character. I used these to get a good idea of how the character was developing and what the final outcome would look like.

Topology

Topology is a great way of modelling a character so I drew up a front view and a side view of the character, scanned them and split the image. I used those the images on plains in the 3D Max and to begin modelling my character.

Here are the images.

Assignment 2: Character Design, Rigging and Animation

For this assignment Ive been asked to create a character, rig this character and then animate it.

The character Ive decided is animate and create is an Alien, your traditional grey alien. I choose this because one of the suggested ideas was to convert a 2D image/character into a 3D model. I started to look at South Park character, as this is one of my favorite shows. But thought that the model of would probably be a bit basic and not every good for rigging and animating. But then I seen the alien that is hidden in every episode and thought that I could add more detail than any of the main characters and it would be better suited to rigging.

I started to look up pictures of grey aliens online as reference material.

Here are some of those photos.

Videos

I was asked to create a video to show off the animation.

Here's the first one, but not the final one.

This is the final video, I decide to add a bit more camera movement.

I would have liked to add more of a flame on the video but my laptop couldn't handle the any more than this.

I've been asked to create some high resolution images that will show off the final model. I've also been asked to have 3 of these printed out like photographs.
